On Wednesday 20th April we had a speaker in the year 13 assembly focused around ‘The wonder of travel’.
Emily Laurie has 10 years’ work experience in international development, advocacy and campaign work. She has most notably worked advising Gordon Brown, as special Educational Envoy and alongside Malala Yousafzai for the ‘Malala Day’ promoting her cause internationally in human rights advocacy and education for young women.
She talked to the students about her journey and travels and offered some advice about how to become more active in global citizenship with the 2015 global initiative to improve education in mind. She focused in particular on campaigns to teach students about the global goals for sustainable development.
It was an inspirational event and we were really proud of how the students gave her a warm QK welcome.
