PPE

Introduction

The Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) Faculty’s  guiding aim is to provide students with a passion for academic enquiry, and with the skills they need for critical engagement in life, whatever they choose to do. The core aims of the PPE Faculty are to inspire our students so they have a lifelong interest in the different facets of the shared human experience, to empower our students so they fulfil their potential, to equip students with key skills, especially the ability to empathise with others, and to enable students develop as independent thinkers and lifelong learners

Current developments

PPE is a popular and successful part of the school with growing numbers of students choosing to study our subjects at GCSE and A level. Students are given many opportunities to discuss and debate important contemporary issues and events. We place particular emphasis on developing our students’ ability to think critically about the world around them and what they can do to make the world a better, fairer and more equitable place to live in. We are especially proud that so many of our students go on to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the very best universities in the UK.

Enrichment and Extracurricular

Our students routinely take part in events with speakers visiting the school, collaborative projects with other schools and visits offsite, for example to parliament. We also organise Internships for students, for example at the Institute for Public Policy & Research. In previous years we have organised a trip overseas to the USA, visiting New York, Philadelphia and Washington. We have organised school elections and work closely with government departments and the civil service taking part in study days at QK and in Whitehall.
