Duke of Edinburgh Expedition May 2016

On Friday 13th May, fourteen of our Year 10 students set off on their assessment DofE expedition. Upon arriving at Epping station, they set off on their planned routes through Epping Forest. Through adversity, they showed great resilience to accomplish their goal of reaching the campsite, albeit after a long nine hour walk.

Duke of Edinburgh Expedition (Practice) April 2016

Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh students set out on their practice Bronze expedition. Three groups set off on different routes and they spent 6 and a half hours navigating their way round their own planned walks.

Easter Fayre March 2016

Year 10 DofE students volunteered at the St John’s Hospice Easter Fayre in St John’s Wood, helping to sell raffle tickets and balloons, raising as much money as possible for the charity.

Bird Box March 2016

Year 10 DofE students went to St John’s Wood Park to put up their birdboxes, that they made at school.  If you are passing the park (opposite Lord’s Cricket ground), please head to the wildlife section and see the work the students have done.

Tea and Texting February 2016

10 Duke of Edinburgh students took part in a ‘tea and texting’ volunteering opportunity at The Danubius Hotel in St John’s Wood.

Bird Box December 2015

Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh students helped make bird boxes that will go up, in and around St John’s Wood parks. They used their team work skills to navigate through the lengthy and wordy instructions to complete four bird boxes with their own creative designs added. They also signed their bird boxes so they can identify them when in the local parks.

Tea and texting 12 November 2015

Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh students took part in a ‘tea and texting’ volunteering opportunity in a local cafe where they met five older residents from the community that live in council housing and/or sheltered housing, giving them assistance in using their technological devices.

Bulb Planting in St Johns Wood October 2015

Duke of Edinburgh students went to Violet Hill Gardens, to help volunteer within our community. While there, they helped the head gardener plant over 800 bulbs, which will spring up by next march into Daffodils.
