The Physical Education Department believes that every student should foster a passion for at least one sporting activity, we offer a wide range of activities across the curriculum and this is complemented by extensive extra-curricular opportunities so that every student will find that passion.
At Quintin Kynaston Physical Education lessons are active, enjoyable and challenge all students to make progress physically, socially and cognitively. All Physical Education lessons aim to promote and install the school values; we challenge and support students to become resilient, to aspire and improve their performances, we celebrate and encourage our young people to seek out and be proud to of their contributions to the school community. The department is fortunate to have excellent modern facilities that will include a large sports hall, dance studio, fitness suite, a large MUGA for outdoor sports and a 4G astro-turf.
Current Developments
Our wonderful brand new facilities in combination with fast-growing partnerships with local sports organisations means it is an exciting time to be involved in PE and Sport at Quintin Kynaston. We have become very well positioned to identify and develop a range of talents and to also ensure all our students can enjoy regular sports participation inside and outside of school time.
During years 7-9 students enjoy a weekly double PE lesson during which they learn to perform, skills, tactics and strategies across a range of disciplines including swimming, games, gymnastics, athletics and fitness. In addition to improving performance, students are taught how to officiate and improve their leadership skills. Students gain an excellent understanding of how to exercise safely and independently, and learn the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.
In year 10 students will have the option of Studying PE and Sport at examination level. The department offers both BTEC sport and GCSE PE. In year 12 students can study a Level 3 Btec Sport course if they wish to study sports performance at a higher level and this option suits students who wish to either work in the sports and leisure industry or further their sporting interest at university.
