A level Government & Politics: Civil Service Online Challenge – Angell’s Angels
On Thursday 28/1/16 our AS Government & Politics students took part in a project designed to help change society for the better. They demonstrated that they have what it takes to make a difference. Their challenge was to be part of a taskforce put together to try to crack one of the biggest problems in society: the cycle of poverty. Their focus was Angell Town, a London housing estate situated between Oval and Brixton. It’s in the top 10% of the UK’s most deprived areas, and recently featured in a week-long report by the London Evening Standard newspaper. An angel investor has agreed to give out grants of up to £20,000.
The students worked with members of the Civil Service to decide how they would use the money to improve life on the estate.
As always our students impressed with their enthusiasm, generosity, intelligence and empathy.
